WHAT IS REFORMER?

YOUR FIRST CLASS

HOW MANY STUDENTS PER CLASS?

5 students only

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR FOR MY REFORMER CLASS?

Anything stretchy or loose - comfortable clothing. For hygiene reasons reformer students are requested to wear socks. GRIP socks and gloves are available for purchase at reception. Please note that no outdoor shoes are allowed downstairs.

I AM NEW TO REFORMER, WHAT CLASS DO YOU RECOMMEND?

We request that all first-time reformer students attend the Beginners class, followed by level 1 and level -2 classes before participating in intermediate (level 2) classes. Please be aware that class levels are based on skill level and not on fitness levels – students joining a reformer level class they’re not ready for will be asked to leave.

I’M HAVING TROUBLE BOOKING INTO A REFORMER CLASS, WHY?

To maintain effective class levels, all new reformer students wishing to book into classes other than beginners need to be signed off by reception. If you have attended reformer classes before please email us after setting up an account and we will remove the booking restriction.

WHAT IF I HAVE AN INJURY?

Various injuries can benefit from controlled exercise such as the reformer provides. You must check with your doctor to ensure that exercise is suited for your condition. You must also always alert our teachers to your condition so that they can ensure the right exercises are practised.

WHAT IF I'M PREGNANT?

There are several classes that are suitable during pregnancy, however, there are conditions that must be adhered to, please visit our pre + post natal webpage.

BEGINNERS REFORMER

Beginner’s reformer is a low intensity, low technical class.

A prerequisite for anyone who has never taken a reformer class or has very little experience. If you’re new to the reformer or haven’t exercised for a while, this is the class for you. The class will introduce you to the equipment and the basic techniques needed for a safe and effective reformer practice. You will receive detailed explanations & demonstrations to quickly & safely familiarise yourself with the reformer in preparation for the levelled classes.

Whilst this is a beginners class and less intense than some of our other classes, it is still a comprehensive workout, which will focus on understanding how the core muscles work, learning to activate them correctly, and beginning to improve your general strength, flexibility and posture. A basic level of fitness is helpful, but not essential. Suitable for all levels.

REFORMER (LEVEL 1)

Continue to ground yourself in the essentials of the STOTT PILATES Reformer, mastering the proper technique required to build core strength, stability & mind-body awareness. This class seeks to build comfort with taking cues from the Reformer repertoire to target the abdominals, glutes, arms & quads.   Suitable for beginners.

REFORMER (LEVEL 2)

Focused on endurance & core strength while improving the body’s stamina & agility. Exercises are chosen to activate & mobilize the joints. Mid-level intensity reformer classes are designed to streamline the body as well as strengthen & stabilize the hips, knees, & ankles. Students will need to be physically strong to be able to participate.

BOUNCE + BURN (LEVEL 1 - 2)

An introduction class to bounce + burn, suitable for level 1 students but not absolute beginners. This aerobic workout incorporates the use of the Cardio-Tramp Rebounder to increase performance, challenge neuromuscular precision, & improve cardiovascular health while allowing you to explore a greater range of movement.  Suitable for beginners.

BOUNCE + BURN (LEVEL 2)

This aerobic workout incorporates the use of the Cardio-Tramp Rebounder to increase performance, challenge neuromuscular precision, & improve cardiovascular health while allowing you to explore a greater range of movement.

TOWER (LEVEL 1 – 2)

The tower adds a vast repertoire of multi plane exercise to the already sophisticated reformer. Balance bars & arm & leg resistance springs will give you a strong workout tailored to your own body.   Suitable for beginners.

CLINICAL OPEN

Designed for beginners and anyone looking for a slower and less challenging class, this class is done on the reformer machine and can also include the use of the tower. The classes are suitable for everyone, regardless of your age or condition, and exercises can be individually adapted to each student. This class can be ideal for injury rehabilitation, or for people suffering from chronic pain - including those with back, neck or shoulder pain. Alternatively, supplement your general cardio workout (such as running, cycling, skiing etc) by adding regular Pilates equipment training, thereby improving your performance and overall fitness ability.
